The Body Shop Lip Juicers – A review (Shhhhh… it’s an epic fail!)
Recently as I was browsing new beauty launches, my eyes fell upon this new product from The Body Shop (TBS) – Lip juicers.
I love a good lip balm and I place one almost everywhere – my workstation, night stand, purse… you get what I mean right? Practically everywhere!
I use TBS Born Lippy pot lip balm regularly and a new launch from TBS which had the cute adorable packaging made me curious! Add to it, the very unique flavors it came in – oh boy, I needed it!
Priced at USD $10/ INR 645, this lip balm came in an interesting combination of ingredients!
This is what TBS has got to say about it:
“Get fruity with these 100% vegan, moisture-boosting balms. Scented with irresistible smoothie-inspired combinations. With blends of naturally derived extracts and five mouth-watering fragrances, our Lip Juicers, easily glide onto your lips for a smooth, soft and soothing finish. These super-cute lip balms are perfect carrying with you everywhere you go. 100% Vegan Balms Lip Moisturiser 5 Collectable Shades Community Trade shea butter, marula oil and organic olive oil”
The 5 shades include:
- Strawberry,Pomegranate&Aloe
- Raspberry,Beetroot&Ginger
- Kiwi,Kale&Watermelon
- Acai,Blueberry&Dragon Fruit
- Coconut,Passionfruit&Carrot
I bought 2 shades Raspberry,Beetroot&Ginger and Acai,Blueberry&Dragon Fruit, my rationale for ruling out the rest of the shades being ‘ I have used way too many strawberry lip balms in the past, ‘I don’t really like the scent of the coconut’, ‘Kiwi ran out of stock’ – gosh, I sound high maintenance – a lip balm is a lip balm right?! :-/
When I opened the lip balms and swatched it – there was an overwhelming fruity scent which was highly unappealing especially for a person like me who hates berries – in spite of its many ingredients I could smell only berries! The lip balm was slightly pigmented which was fine but once applied on the lips it applied quite patchy. It wasn’t extremely hydrating and stay power was low. It required constant re-application.
this was after multiple swatches! |
Of course, the packaging is cute, but would I spend $10 just for the packaging, that too on a lip balm? No!
So many people seem to like this product and it can be purchased from TBS Website here and Nykaa (in India) here. I am a huge fan of TBS products, but this was a dud for me! I would any day recommend Maybelline baby lips lip balm and for my friends across the pond –EOS Lip balm!
