DIY Nail art at home
Hi folks,
I wanted to share with you a simple nail art tutorial that
is easily doable at home using nail stamping plates. This is a quick and simple
technique that even beginners can do comfortably. Let us delve into how it is
done.
Materials required:
- Base coat (any regular/gel nail polish of your choice)
- Nail stamping plate
- Nail stamper
- High pigment polish for stamping
- Scraping plate
- Nail polish remover
- Cotton pads
- Top coat polish
I purchased my nail stamping kit from amazon.com
for $14.99 but you can get any good quality stamping kit of your choice. I have
tried Konad kit in the past, but this one seems to work quite well for me with
very little effort.
- Apply a base coat of your choice and let it dry thoroughly - I have used gel polish from Wet n Wild in the shade ‘Marooned’
- Remove the thin blue sheet from the stamping plate to get full impact of the design; the blue sheet is just a protection layer on the plate and should be removed fully before use
- Take a highly pigmented nail polish for stamping the design. There are many nail polishes available exclusively for stamping, however, I have used Sally Hansen polish which works quite fine for me
- Pick a design of your choice and apply the stamping polish on one quarter of the design as shown in the image
- Now scrape off the polish using a scraper throughout the design quickly
- Press the nail art stamp gently on the design and onto the nail to get the full impression
- The above 3 steps need to be done quickly (15-30 seconds) as we might risk drying of the polish in case of a delay and the design does not transfer as per desire
- Clean up the excess polish around the nails using a Q-tip dipped in nail polish remover ( I have used a cleaning tool here, but a Q-tip does the same job)
- Once done, and the design is dry, finish with a top coat – I have used Seche Vite top coat as it dries quickly and my polish usually lasts longer. I love it.
- Clean the plate, stamp and scraper after every single use
- Always use a paper towel underneath as scraping the plate multiple times can prove to be messy at times
- It is important that every layer dries thoroughly before you move on to the next step
Get creative, play with the designs and do your own nail art
at home every single time – fast and easy!
