Unboxing Boxycharm – April 2018

Hi folks,

Today I am sharing the unboxing of my Boxycharm box for the month of April 2018. Boxycharm is an online based beauty subscription box. In each box, the subscribers receive about 4-5 full-sized makeup/skincare products/beauty tools along with a card that showcases the theme of the month, description and price of the products featured and usually a discount coupon code for one or more of the brands featured in the month. The box costs $21 per month and Boxycharm claims that the value of each box is above $100.

information card in the box

I have been a subscriber of Boxycharm box for more than a year now and in my opinion, this is one of the best beauty boxes available in the market both in terms of value and in terms of the brands featured!

The theme of the April 2018 box is ‘eye candy’.

The box that I got 5 full sized items, namely:

  • Colorpop – Golden State of mind
  • Dr. Brandt – Pores no more Vacuum cleaner pore purifying mask
  • Tarte – Tarteist pro glow (shade – sparkler)
  • The BrowGal – Tinted brow gel (shade – Brown hair 02)
  • Adesse High Definition liquid lipstick

Colorpop – Golden State of mind

Price: $26

swatches of some of the shades

Each boxycharm subscriber receives any one out of five Colorpop palettes featured this month and I received ‘Golden State of mind’. The palette has 15 shades – all  have metallic/glittery finish. There were NO matte shades. The shadows are quite chunky and glittery, totally not my style. Though when I saw the spoilers, I was so excited for a Colorpop palette, this specific one was a dud for me. I don’t see myself reaching for this at all.

Dr. Brandt - Pores no more Vacuum cleaner pore purifying mask

Price: $47

It is a pore refining mask which is believed to unclog and tighten the pores. It also says on the information card that it reduces excess oil from the skin’s surface. The mask is a clear transparent gel like paste with bright blue beads in them which dissolve to form a beautiful bluish-grey thin mask on the skin when applied. It definitely feels refreshing!

Tarte – Tarteist pro glow (shade – sparkler)

Price: $29

This is a creamy highlighter which is so pigmented that it is blinding. The finish per say is quite sparkly, glittery and chunky. The shade Sparkler is a rose gold toned highlighter which sets on the skin fast, therefore needs to be blended quickly.  I for one, like subtle sheen on my skin and hence this is a no go for me.

The BrowGal – Tinted brow gel (shade – Brown hair 02)

Price: $22

This is a tinted brow gel with microfibers. Shade number 2 is a great match for my brows. It made my brows look full and thick in a natural way. I LOVE this product.

Adesse High Definition liquid lipstick

Price: $24

This is a creamy matte lipstick with a nice sheen to it. It is a mauvy nude which will suit most of the skin tones. For me, in particular, this shade was little pale but nothing a dark lipliner cannot fix. However, it applied quite patchy. Maybe, this needs to be tested out more before shunning it off.

Overall value of the box: $148

I am definitely not wowed by this month’s box as I have received better boxes in the past. A variation of this box has a Mac Lipintensity lipstick – I would have loved to receive that!

Will I continue to be subscribed? Yes, overall, I feel it is the best beauty box subscriptions around.
