Blood Sugar Palette by Jeffree Star Cosmetics – Swatches and Review
Hi folks,
Today we are going to review one of the most coveted eye
shadow/pressed pigment palettes by the beauty enthusiasts this season – the
Blood Sugar Palette by Jeffree Star Cosmetics.
Jeffree star cosmetics has been in the industry for 3+ years
now and are known for their high-quality makeup line. Personally, I am a huge
fan of their liquid lipsticks. Recently they launched the Love Sick collection
for Valentine’s day and the collection included an eyeshadow palette, liquid
lipsticks, lip ammunitionTM (lipsticks),
lip scrubs, mirror and makeup bags.
I did pick up few items from the collection but my most
favorite one is the Blood Sugar Palette. According to Jeffree, a 100,000 of
this palette were sold in the first 17 seconds of its launch! This product always
seems to be sold out. Fortunately, I was able to grab one just in time
(well, we had to set an alarm to
add it to the cart as soon as it launched!!) as I had demanded this to be one
of my Valentine’s day gifts from my husband ;)
The palette has a nice textured faux leather packaging in red, and
metal clasps to open; it resembles olden days’ doctor’s kit. The packaging is sturdy and feels good to hold. The palette has 18
shades and retails for $52.
The palette can be bought/preordered from www.jeffreestarcosmetics.com .
They announce the stock/preorder status on their Twitter and Instagram handle
from time to time.
The palette is predominantly warm-toned with great emphasis
on red-based shades – just the right one for the season. Personally, I can see
myself using this palette throughout the year as it has bright pop up shades
for spring season and dark hues for fall weather as well.
The palette has 4-5 metallics, 1 pressed glitter and rest
are matte finishes. Each color weighs about 0.05oz, this is still larger than
the individual mac eyeshadows which are at 0.04oz and is equal to Mac pro
palette refill pans which are also at 0.05oz. This palette is vegan and cruelty
free.
The palette has extreme color payoff. I tried and tested it
for about 8 hours and the colors stay put till I used my Neutrogena makeup
wipes to remove it. The palette has a
good mix of neutral shades as well as fun colors. The palette has a pure white
matte pressed pigment which is very unique for a palette. The colors were creamy
and blended like a dream without being patchy. The colors did pigment my
eyelids even after removal, which was a con for me (well, they did warn about
this in their launch video, so it is nothing that I didn’t expect).
Let us quickly dive into the swatches (I have used Urban
Decay original eyeshadow primer to show these swatches)

Overall, if you enjoy playing with colors, especially red
tones, this palette is a must have! It is a cool palette to experiment with!
